Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) has named Joe Costello chief financial officer. Costello will be responsible for providing DART’s strategic and financial planning, budgeting, debt financing, treasury, funds management, revenue administration and collection, grants management, accounting and risk management.
Before joining DART in 2014, Costello served as chief financial officer then later executive director at the Regional Transportation Authority of Northeastern Illinois. Prior to that, he held a variety of financial positions with three multinational firms. He began his career at Price Waterhouse.
He is a reviewer for the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Award program and was formerly on the Executive Board. He also chairs the Transit Finance Learning Exchange and was vice chair of the American Public Transportation Association’s Financial Management Committee.
Costello earned an MBA from the University of Chicago, a bachelor's in accounting from the University of Illinois, a CPA certificate and the government equivalent of a Certified Public Finance Officer.
