Strato, Inc. has named Brian Cunkelman vice president engineering, succeeding Larry Hixon, who retired earlier this year after 15 years with the company.
Cunkelman will be responsible for leading the research, development, and engineering teams through all stages of product design and development. He will also oversee product launches and lean manufacturing process development, as well as cultivate international business opportunities.
Before joining Strato, Cunkelman spent more than 25 years in various leadership and executive roles in the rail industry, including roles in engineering, operations, manufacturing, international sales, and aftermarket services.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Brown University and holds 30 U.S. and numerous foreign patents.
“In addition to his vast rail industry background, Brian’s experience with international growth strategies in emerging markets such as India, Brazil, Mexico, and Russia will contribute to Strato’s future market potential,” said Chief Executive Officer Mike Foxx.
